A wonderful piece of British horse racing memorabilia celebrating Lester Piggott, one of the greatest jockeys in the history of the sport.
This evocative black-and-white racing photograph captures Piggott in the saddle in a classic racecourse scene and has been personally hand signed in marker, with a large and distinctive autograph positioned prominently in the upper corner.
Nicknamed “The Long Fellow”, Piggott enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning several decades. He was crowned British Champion Jockey 11 times and rode more than 4,400 career winners, establishing himself as one of racing's most successful and recognisable figures.
His remarkable record included an unprecedented nine victories in the Epsom Derby, beginning with Never Say Die in 1954 and culminating with Teenoso in 1983. He also enjoyed enormous success at Royal Ascot and across virtually every major British Classic.
Piggott died in 2022, meaning the supply of genuinely hand-signed memorabilia is naturally finite. Combined with the wonderful period racing image, this makes for an especially attractive piece for collectors of British racing history.
