Nicknamed “The Whirlwind” for his fast, attacking and entertaining style of play, White became a huge favourite with snooker audiences during the sport's television boom of the 1980s and 1990s.
White won 10 ranking titles, including the 1984 Masters and 1992 UK Championship, and famously reached the World Snooker Championship final on six occasions. Despite never lifting the World Championship trophy, his exciting style, personality and longevity have made him one of the most enduringly popular figures in British snooker.
