A wonderful piece of British horse racing memorabilia celebrating Bob Champion CBE and one of the most inspirational stories in sporting history.
This atmospheric black-and-white photograph captures Champion in action over the famous Aintree fences and has been personally hand signed by Bob Champion in bold black marker across the upper section of the image.
Champion is forever associated with his remarkable victory aboard Aldaniti in the 1981 Grand National. Having been diagnosed with cancer and undergone treatment, Champion returned to racing and partnered Aldaniti – himself having recovered from serious injury – to an extraordinary victory at Aintree.
Their story became one of British sport's most celebrated tales of determination and recovery and was subsequently portrayed in the 1984 film Champions, starring John Hurt as Champion.
Champion later established the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, raising millions of pounds to support cancer research.
